Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: March 30, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms," "Agreement") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Barakah Breaks ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Barakah Breaks web application, including all content, features, and services offered through barakahbreaks.com or any related domains (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using Barakah Breaks, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. Your continued use of the Service constitutes ongoing acceptance of any modifications to these Terms.
We recommend that you print or save a copy of these Terms for your records. You can access the latest version at any time at barakahbreaks.com/terms.
2. Description of Service
Barakah Breaks is a free productivity application designed to help Muslims integrate focused work sessions with Quran reading and spiritual reflection. The Service combines:
- Pomodoro-style focus timer with customizable work and break intervals
- Integrated Quran reader with multiple Arabic scripts, translations, and audio recitation
- Bookmark management to save and organize your favorite verses
- Optional Quran.com integration via OAuth to sync bookmarks with your Quran Foundation account
- Reading progress tracking and focus session statistics
Spiritual intent: Barakah Breaks was created to help Muslims remember Allah throughout their workday, turning breaks into moments of worship and contemplation. The name "Barakah" (Arabic: بركة) means divine blessing — our hope is that this tool brings barakah to your time and productivity.
3. User Accounts and Registration
3.1 Account Creation
You may use basic features of Barakah Breaks without creating an account. To access bookmark syncing and cross-device features, you must create an account using one of these methods:
- Email and password: Register directly with Barakah Breaks
- Quran.com OAuth: Sign in with your existing Quran Foundation account
3.2 Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that you have reviewed these Terms with your parent or legal guardian, and that they agree to these Terms on your behalf.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account, please contact us immediately to have the account removed.
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (email and password)
- All activities that occur under your account, whether authorized by you or not
- Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access or any security breach
- Ensuring your password is strong and not used for other services
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain account security or from unauthorized access to your account that results from your actions or inactions.
3.4 Account Information Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information promptly if it changes. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false, misleading, or outdated information.
4. Quran.com Integration
4.1 Authorization and Permissions
When you choose to sign in with Quran.com, you authorize Barakah Breaks to:
- Access your basic Quran.com profile information (name, email, profile picture)
- Read your existing bookmarks from your Quran.com account
- Add new bookmarks to your Quran.com account when you create them in Barakah Breaks
- Delete bookmarks from Quran.com when you remove them in Barakah Breaks
- Maintain access to enable ongoing synchronization without requiring you to sign in repeatedly
4.2 How Bookmark Synchronization Works
When you connect your Quran.com account:
- Initial import: We automatically fetch your existing bookmarks from Quran.com and import them into Barakah Breaks
- Export to Quran.com: Any bookmarks you previously created in Barakah Breaks are sent to your Quran.com account
- Ongoing sync: New bookmarks created in Barakah Breaks are automatically sent to Quran.com; deletions are synced as well
- Manual sync: You can trigger a full sync at any time to reconcile any differences
Note: Sync is bidirectional but not real-time. Bookmarks created on Quran.com while using Barakah Breaks may not appear automatically until you trigger a manual sync.
4.3 Security and Token Storage
Authentication credentials are stored securely on our servers and:
- Are encrypted to protect your privacy
- Are never exposed to your browser or client-side code
- Are automatically refreshed to maintain uninterrupted sync
- Are deleted immediately when you disconnect your Quran.com account or delete your Barakah Breaks account
4.4 Quran Foundation's Terms Apply
